Are You Playing The Point Or The Score? Have you ever been leading comfortably by 3 or 4 games, like 4-1 or 5-2, only to have your opponent suddenly catch up in about two minutes? What happened? Maybe you were playing the score instead of the point. Or maybe you need to learn how to play the score correctly...

Q1: How can I develop my one handed back hand more so that it can become stronger. And yes I know, placement comes before power, but I have already mastered the placement. Oh and I am 15 years old and i play at my high school. I hope you can give me some tips. Thank you!!
A1: Perhaps you have some technical errors but I would have to see you. If you can video yourself and upload to YouTube or Google Video that would help. Other than that, you can:
- try and see the ball clearly Ok, hope that helps. See if you can upload a video somewhere...
Q2: I couldnt understand what will be the mind set of him yet to get on game to win. Where should be the mistake?
A2: What you are describing with your son is a normal thing with young players. And probably 90% of adults. That's my experience. Our emotions take over, we become disappointed because we made some mistakes that we think we "shouldn't" have done and then we are not 100% focused any more and perhaps we don't even try 100%. The result is that our game play drops and we lose the match. There is NO WAY your son WILL NEVER do this again. EVERYONE has to go through this period where emotions take over. Everyone has to lose many matches because he thought he has already won a match and relaxed too much. Read about the Letdowns in my Articles section... 11 year old kids have almost no control over their emotions. They can't say: OK, I'm feeling bad but that will not help so I'll stay focused. They are NOT AWARE that they are in an emotional state. That's the same with 90% of adults. We are just on autopilot doing whatever our emotions are telling us. It requires a lot of training to be able to monitor ourselves - what we feel or what we think and then consciously change it to something more productive. What your son needs is a role model. That needs to be his parents and his coach. You all need to show positive body language, encourage him and not allow failures and mistakes affect your emotions. You'll see how hard is that. ;) That's how children learn - by observing and copying. They don't learn much by us telling them something. They need to see. All the best.
-------------------------------- Remember from previous newsletters when I mentioned that I made a video describing why I like SBI - sitesell.com company which hosts my website and gives me all the tools? Sitesell.com held a contest for best video that decribes (without any promotion for the company) how we feel about SBI and how it changed our life. My video is among the 38 winners! And I received a prize of $500! :) You can find my video among other winners on this page: As I said above, I got a new camcorder and am working on making instructional videos for you. Stay tuned... ----------------------------------------- That's it for this week, I'll be in touch again in two weeks. Best regards, Tomaz
