I've Created a Fun Tennis Video for You! October 06, 2007 |
| Hi, I made the first test videos for advanced players this morning. My stay in Thailand is slowly coming to an end and I hope to at least make all the footage here which I can edit later. My plan for the advanced videos is to create video articles and not just pure videos. An example of a video article is for example the Topspin Tennis Serve Guide. I'll keep you updated on the progress!
-------------------------------- I recently had an interesting conversation with a friend who spent years playing basketball. We talked about differences and similarities of both sports and stumbled upon the topic of probability. Here are my thoughts about it: Tennis Is All About Probability
-------------------------------- I've seen an interesting phenomenon when I was teaching kids. I was thinking only about how to help them become better players but then I noticed, that it's not only the strokes and tactics that they want to improve, they also wanted to pick up the ball like me. ;) So how can you progress in the "picking up ball" skills? Here's a fun video I created one Saturday afternoon...
How To Pick Up A Tennis Ball - From Hopeless To Jedi Master And if you enjoyed the video, please Digg it! (if you have an account on Digg) I came across an interesting article about worrying and how men and women are different in that aspect. How does that apply to tennis? Do Women Worry More Than Men About Future Tennis Matches? A tennis mom asks for advice about her son. He can play well against his team mates but not so well against unknown players. How do beliefs and confidence affect his performance? Stop Losing To Players You Have Never Played Before
---------------------------------- And here's an email from one of the readers of Tennismindgame.com about learning the game of tennis through inner game principles and practicing with lots of repetition:
Started playing 6 months ago in New Hampshire. I happened to turn on the 2007 Australian Open and could not stop watching. After Wimbledon I began thinking of my body moving like these great players. So I could not help but pick up a raquet. My brother plays too so we played a bit over a week while he was home for vacation. Since then, in the absence of people to play with, I have been taking a crate of 40 balls to a court to hit when I can. I serve all 40 and go to the other side keeping the crate on the serving side. I lightly tap all of the balls on the ground into the court. Then I try to hit the crate. This process is repeated. A few times doing this others have been playing on a nearby court. A couple of times a player asked if I wanted to hit around. Each time it rocked beacause I think in my practice method I have allowed the correct relationship between Self1 and Self2 to develop. Of course I am not thinking self1 and self2 but this is a very good exposition of how important it is to recognize your body's ability to learn independently of your mind. In one of your pieces you mentioned beginers who have experience playing "ball sports" and those that do not. I have played raquetball since I was 12... Just started playing tennis at 30 and I agree there is something to having this experience with balls. I am teaching my body with my mind. Anyhow playing tennis feels so good. Thanks for this site. All the best from Thailand, Tomaz
