A Review Of The ITF Tennis Psychology Book And How Federer Outthought Nadal November 20, 2007 |
| Hi, My stay at the Tennis Academy of Asia is slowly coming to an end. I'll be sending you the next newsletter on the 5th of December - on the day that I leave Thailand and fly back home to Slovenia. My main focus right now is taping all the material for the advanced videos so I'll see if I can get it done in the next two weeks.
-------------------------------- If you been reading books about the mental game of tennis, you might have realized, that although theory is very good and there are good ways to improve the mental game off court, you couldn't find tennis drills to practice mentall skills on court. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has finally relased a book that really stands out in the field of tennis psychology and includes over 200 on-court tennis drills which help you improve your mental game. -------------------------------- A tennis mom asks a question about her 10 year old son and why he behaves badly on court. ---------------------------------- There's one more tennis tip I want to share with you and it's about watching the ball. First, here's why most people don't watch the ball well: because when you turn your head towards the ball, you lose sight of the court. And most people are not comfortable by playing "blind" so they try to somehow keep the court in sight and at the same time see the ball too. It's true, that you can still play tennis like that but you cannot hit the ball really clean which would give you good control and power. So here is something to think about if you worry about not seeing the court: The court is not moving but the ball is. It's much better to see the MOVING ball clearly and not knowing exactly where the court is, than clearly seeing where the STATIC court is and not clearly seeing the FAST MOVING ball. All the best from Thailand, Tomaz
