How to Make The Best of Your Backhand Or Any Other Weaker Stroke
April 07, 2009
Hi,

The Tennis Coaching Organization of Slovenia invited Louis Cayer from Tennis Canada for the second time for a seminar in Slovenia (which took place on the 4th and 5th of April) and it again proved to be an excellent choice.

Louis has worked with Andy Murray and other top pros and openly shared his experience and his views on tennis tactics, technique and the mental game.

It was a great seminar and I'll share some of the things I learned in the future articles.

1. What's new?

The most common weaker shot in the game of tennis is the backhand and that holds true even for most professionals. The best way to improve your weaker shot is of course to work on it, practice it in various situations and improve the technique and consistency so that it won't break down in a rally situation.

But there are other ways with which you can make more of your weaker shot which include different tactics and a different mental approach to your shot.

I am also testing a new comment option on this page so please use it to share your thoughts and let me know if you'd like me to use this comment form on other pages too. Thanks!

2. Tennis Thoughts Blog
--------------------------------

I enjoyed watching the Miami Open (mostly through tennistv.com) and I noticed that a few of the players there had a big break-through in their mental game while others more or less performed according to their expectations.

Which mindset allowed them to break-through?

What Do Azarenka, Del Potro, Djokovic and Murray Have In Common?

---------------------------

Roger Federer was again disappointed with his loss against Djokovic and said that he is fed up with the hard courts and is looking forward to clay court season. That's quite a surprising statement considering that clay is his worst surface.

You can watch all the top players in Monte Carlo (which starts on the 13th of April) and I am really looking forward to see how Roger plays there.

I also want to see if Nadal will still dominate like in the previous years and whether Murray and Djokovic can get a few big wins on clay.

Let me know your predictions!

Best, Tomaz
