| Hi, Helmut from Germany has decided to check out Slovenia and take a few tennis lessons with me. We worked on the backhand mostly and the first article with lots of videos is ready. Part II with more drills and tips on how to develop an advanced backhand will come next week...
-------------------------------- a) The key to developing an advanced backhand is getting the fundamentals right and being able to control the ball really well at low speeds. Helmut's backhand is a perfect example of a recreational backhand which is relatively consistent in easy conditions but is limited with speed and accuracy and breaks down under pressure. The first article talks about using the right muscles to hit a one-handed backhand and shows drills to help you develop basic ball control and basic backhand technique. Felipe talks about how losing a match makes you improve more than winning because you learn what went wrong and work on it to improve it. And Joseph suggests that you should focus on accuracy before power if you want to develop consistent strokes that you can rely on.
