All Drop Shots Are Reachable

(Prosper TX)

My story is about the dedication to go for every ball.

I was playing in a District tournament for my school once, against a very good net player that had a great variety of shots. He could hit it cross-court, overhead, or drop shot from the net, but I would never know which.

So, as we play, he continues to play great drop shots, but I am also managing to run around the court to hit a great deal of them. I nearly won the second set, but he hit a drop volley that barely fell over the net, whilst I stood at the baseline.

Being the dedicated hit-everything-back player I was, I immediately started sprinting for it. Unfortunately, about 2 feet from it, I stretched my arm out and fell over my untied shoelace, making contact with the ball, then running into the net, somersaulting over it, and scraping my face against the court.

The moral of the story is to realize that you can
get to every shot if you try hard enough, and to always make sure your shoelaces are tied.
