Always watched never played

I'm going to be a junior in high school next year, I know a lot about the game but next year is going to be my first year playing. I bought a racket and took some shots at the local tennis court for the first time.

It's hard for me to hit topspin but my slice is money for a rookie. I would like to model my style after Fabrice Santoro "The Magician".

Do you have any tips on the playing style of a spin doctor, how a spin doctor would fare on different court types, and drills to help develop a spin doctor style.
