An aging wannabe

by bill
(Martinez, Ca)

My tale of tennis woe: An aging wannabe. Recently bumped up because our senior 3.0 team went to nationals, thanks in part to other teams sandbaggers finally got caught.

I have a real bad shoulder not rotator but anterior claviculus. Footwork and footspeed are a problem.

I'm strictly a doublesplayer anymore, but shoulder has affected my racket speed on all strokes loss of strength and short arm the shots anticipating pain ps.

I play daily if possible. If i cannot regain what little form I had, my serve stinks nothing on it my partners are afraid to be at net when i deliver. Maybe i should try golf, but it doesn't appeal to me.

serve stinks

Hi Bil,

there are 2 possibilities you can consider:

1. your partner doesn't have to stay in the netzone when you deliver, he can start at the baseline

2. try a underhand serve; you can deliver a wicked slice serve underhand, like I did when I had pain in my shoulder (I play level 5.0)

remember play with passion
