Beating pushers?

by SLD
(Michigan)

I was up 6-4, 5-2. Totally lost it when my opponent started top-spin lobbing EVERY shot.

I sliced, high-rolled, drove, volleyed and smashed with no relief. She just responded every time by pushing back high lobs.

Eventually I lost the second set in a tie-break, but won the match in the third set tie-break.

What was happening? And how do I get back into playing my game?

Bring her in!

Conventional wisdom on beating a pusher is to force them to come to the net. A true pusher won't be comfortable up there, and she'll have a tough time moonballing from up there.
