Beginner problems

Hi, I am beginner at tennis, until now i have played for about 50 hours in a period of 2 years (usually i play only in spring and summer).

I played tennis for 2 hours yesterday and it was very bad, like i had a racket for the first time in my hand.

Let me explain the circumstances: Usually i play on court of artificial mass and use a Dunlop ball. Yesterday, after very long time, i played on sandy tennis court and used Wilson balls.

Has maybe this caused such a problem? Another problem is that sometimes the ball goes to high (forehand and backhand), what do you recommend for my swing?

Less than a month of tennis in a whole year...?
by: Julian

Hello there,

If you've only played 50 hours in a two year period and assuming that you played at least an hour a day during that time, that would mean that you've played less than 3 weeks of tennis in a whole year...! and that's too small an amount of time/practice invested in such a demanding sport -as tennis is- to see any significant advancement/improvement/results.

That's basically why you're having problems. The balls and the surfaces you are playing on are of no relevance whatsoever at this point. What you need to do is play more tennis!!

I'd safely say that if you wanted to see any measurable advancement/improvement in your game, you'd have to at least practice (under professional supervision) 2 or 3 times a week for at least an hour - but preferably more- during a 6 month to one year period.

Good Luck!
