BrilTennis Software Review
The Tennis Talent Test

I've recently had the chance to test and review BrilTennis software by Michael Bril, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, member of the Academic Council of the Charles University in Prague and Dr. Oleg Bril.

The BrilTennis software is a modern patented method of analysis, evaluation and development of tennis abilities. It has been developed for beginners, young as well as highly qualified tennis players.

The software consists of 10 computer games that challenge the player's reactions, coordination, anticipation, speed and rationality of decision making and many other skills, that are often invisible on court (at least to the untrained eye), but are crucial for the success in a complex game like tennis.

The whole test takes between 30 and 40 minutes after which the software generates a file which you then send by email to the authors of BrilTennis.

They will analyze your data and send you a detailed report and recommendations on how to improve your weaknesses and to reinforce your advantages.

I have taken the test and here's just a small sample of the full report I received.

In the figure below, you can see how your basic tennis abilities are away from the average level (50 points):

Bril Tennis results

1. Start Reaction13. Ambitions
2. Specific Reaction14. Learning Capability
3. Ball Sense15. Perfectibility
4. Prediction16. Reaction to Failure
5. Receiving Information17. Self-appraisal
6. Focus Switching18. Concentration
7. Stability of Focus19. Stability of Reaction
8. Intuition20. Error Resistance
9. Speed of Decision Making21. Adaptation to Difficulties
10. Racquet Sense22. Memory
11. Coordination23. Deep Eyesight
12. Rationality of Decision Making

And here you can see a fragment of the recommendations:

"Your advantages on the court are excellent tactical decisions, enough quick actions, very high level of ball eye-tracking and quite satisfactory mental reaction to errors. It ensures you success of play and priority of reliability-will, intelligence-motor and speed-strength game styles.

The main obstacle of growth of your mastery is absence of required consistency, especially because of high instability of the racquet sense and start reaction (despite their good absolute levels).

That is why the main strategical model of your training process should be based on the compensation of insufficient consistency and preferential activation of those qualities, which ensure accuracy of different types of strokes."

This was just a small part of the report that Prof. Michael Bril and Dr. Oleg Bril will send you when you decide to test your skills and talents.

The BrilTennis software is a very innovative and smart way of testing the vast array of tennis skills needed to play tennis at higher levels. It can pinpoint the specific skills that you're already good at but more importantly, show you which skills you still need to work on.

The analysis is intended not only for a player, but also for the coach, who can work out a strategy based on real personal qualities of the player. Having received the analysis, the coach either creates own exercises for developing weak points and compensations or advise the player to order such exercises from the BrilTennis experts.

In this case, Prof. Bril and Dr. Bril work out a complex of such individual exercises - the package consists of detailed description of exercises, their tasks, methodical instructions, dosage, directives for the player, recommended duration of usage, and the term of first expected effect.
