Can I Make It The Challenger Level?

by Xavier Vazquez
(Vega Baja, Puerto rico)

I am 21 and I have been playing tennis for 3 years.

I wanted to know if I could play challenger tournaments and maybe make it to pro. I practice 3 to 4 times a day with my friends that are 4.0 and 4.5.

I don't have a ranking because I did not play juniors but the pro at our club says that I play really well for just 3 years of playing tennis.

I would like some advice.

From Tomaz:

Xavier, if I am honest, I think the Challenger level for you is too high.

Most guys who are 21 on the Challenger level have been training more than 10 years and have lots more experience and skills than you.

Before you can try to play a Challenger tournament, you have to play a few Futures tournaments to get some points.

These tournaments have sometimes even pre-qualifying rounds where anyone can apply.

I suggest you start there and see how it goes from there. And of course hope that I am wrong. ;)
