Could never beat him...........sigh!

by jj
(AUS)

He is experienced and consistent. Been playing since young both practice and tournament.

He is fit and always made me cause error. His placement is so good that it frustrates me. I need to know a proper strategy against him.

I'm aggressive player, if hit the right shots, it's good but not always lucky though because somehow he knows how to return the ball and place it in a way that i struggled, not sure why.

I also tried to just play deep and consistent, not for long, ran out of patience and tried to hit aggressive again.

What to do????

stay positive
by: jerry guy

dont look on this as a negative, instead use it as a learning opportunity as surely as you continue to play and grow your opponents will be better and smarter also, therefore use these chances to practice and improve your game physically and mentally.learn to be patient and stay in the point as long as you can while concentrating on making good shots..maybe i didnt answer your question but i certainly hope this will be helpful in your endeavors

There is always next time
by: Tom

Ah....A player after my own heart.
I can empathize with your predicament because I am exactly like you on the tennis courts.

I had him on the rope last Saturday, 5-2 up, and was serving for the final set, guess what... It ended with 5-7 in his favor.

How did it happen, lack of patience, lack of focus, and just took my foot of the pedal.
He is a pusher with incredible placement and retrieving abilities that I have wanted to beat for a long long time. His lack of pace ball is the monster that I have to conquer. If I could have been a little more patience by staying in the point, perhaps the result might have been different, but there is always next time.
I guess player like us need to learn to focus on the now, if we could do that a little more consistently, even if we lose, we would not feel like we had given the game away.

Just plain better
by: Dennis

I have a friend that I play with a lot. We rally evenly...but when we play sets he just finds a way to keep the ball away from me. I have a little more power but he definitely is more consistent. He simply is a better all around player than I am...but I love playing with him because he makes me a better player...because I always try my best to beat him...and play some of my best tennis in the process. Enjoy and learn from playing a better player.

I agree..
by: Tyler Lopez

I have to agree with the guy above my comment... I am a 15 year old who started 1 year ago...I have been coached by the local college... I have been going every day(mon-thurs & sat) for 4 hours at a time... i often play the college team and throughout my time there, i have had many defeats(i lost).... But thru time i was accepted into the varsity tennis team at my school... it is weird because i ALWAYS lose when i play my own team but ALWAYS win against other schools... its been a year since ive played with the varsity team, but i feel so confident now because ive been playing college level players and HAVE BEEN WINNING!!! im sure i can beat anyone on the team, tho probably not the #1 cuz he has a PROFESSIONAL COACH as a father, but throughout the next years i hope to play him... Since ive been playing higher level layers, i have bacome better... so dont be put down if you lose, see it as a great oppurtunity to play sum1 who is better! I am never sad when i lose anymore because i keep that attitude.... Good luck beating him!
