Hey I've been playing a friend from school for a while and for the last couple weeks he has been making topspin forhands which land behind me to the right.
If the ball lands behind you then you are not in the correct position on the court. You should stand just behind or on the baseline during normal rally shots, if your opponents ball lands short, you should try to attack and work your way up to the net. The zone between the baseline and the service line is called the no man's land, you should not be caught standing there.
Good luck
