How do I put more power on my shots

My problem is that my shots aren't as strong sometimes as players who are much weaker than me.

I have a better technique than them, I can control the ball much better, I am much stronger than them, and still sometimes they have stronger shots than me.

I think that maybe I'm not brushing the ball correctly, does anybody have advice?

Whole body?
by: Joe

Usually when I see someone not hitting the ball with maximum power, it is because they are trying to hit the ball with their arm instead of their body. You don't want to use your arm muscles to generate power, you want to use your body weight. You want to turn your whole body into the ball. Kind of hard to describe in text if you don't know what I'm talking about, though. I just try to remember to "turn" my body--kind of twisting at the waist. I also try to hit a "heavy" ball by swinging "through" the ball. I try to pretend I'm hitting three balls instead of one--one in front of the actual ball, and one behind. This seems to help me remember to "stick with" my stroke.

Hope this helps!

yes my father tells me that too
by: Anonymous

My father tells me that sometimes while hitting the shots I take my body backwards and my coach tells me that I hit the ball with an opened raquet.

Jump?
by: Anonymous

If you jump you take your whole body weight with you making the ball get more power.

Should be easily solved...
by: Anonymous

by stepping forward into the ball, you'll transfer more bodyweight into the stroke.
Rotating your upper body can help but please don't overdo it. On the forehand, your upper body should be facing the net at contact. Use your non-hitting arm as a brake to stop your body from overturning, by folding and putting it against the side. Watch the pros hitting, they coil up and unleash but never turn too much at contact. On the two-handed bh, similar to the forehand. On the one-handed bh, the body stays sideways (along the baseline) throughout contact.
