How To Visualize And Stay Focused

by Marty
(Hamilton, Vic, Australia)

I find it difficult to visualise on the tennis court but find that when I'm in a good mood (or in the 'zone') I'm able to visualise my shots which makes me so much more relaxed and effective.

Can you suggest any techniques or reference material which may be able to help me with visualisation and staying focussed.

I realise that this is a very broad topic but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,

Marty.

Get in the mood first
by: Tomaz

Hi Marty,

You've almost answered yourself when you said, that you visualize your shots best, when you are in a good mood.

Get into a good mood first. It can be done.

You can:
- remember a positive event / situation and think about it. Your mood will improve.
- be active with your body with positive body language. This will directly affect your mood.
- smile. ;) Yes, our facial expressions affect our mood too.

Once you feel better, you'll also be able to visualize in a more relaxed state.
