I dont reach the same level on match like i do in training session.

by Diego Teixeira Ferreira
(Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil)

Hi TMG.
I'm Diego from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.
I'm 21 years old and play amauter tennis since 2007. Actually my first "touch" with tennis was 2007. Here the tennis is yet waking up since our Guga.

Well, i do some good training sessions, get good consistency in all basic strokes, volley serve... Its far from a competitive session but i keep a "training match" very hard. I maintain the ball in game, get risks when i think its needed, change strategy to surprise my opponent... but...hahah

You know what comes in a match!! hahah its fun to narrate to you, embarrassing. When i know i'll play any type of REAL match...

MY MIND BURSTS, EXPLODE!

I read the article, and i'm very grateful for the help, but please send me an "step by step short and thick" (like we say here). Direct i mean.

Again, thanks for help and EXCUSE ME ABOUT BAD ENGLISH!

Keep with this work. Its very useful for all lovers of this game.

Bye!

Practice calming down in the future matches
by: Tomaz

Hi Diego,

First, head over to the article "How To Play Matches As You Play In Practice". Your exact question in answered there.

Another thing to add is that even though you know what to do, you can't do it - yet. You need to play many matches and get used to the pressure.

Of course, you must also try to calm down and stay in a neutral state when you play and not get over-excited.
