I Should Have Won That Match

by Rohan Bhatia
(Nashik, Maharashtra, India)

My story is about the semi finals u-12 nationals I was playing last may in Mumbai, India.

My match was against an opponent whom I had played many a times during the last four years being in the same age group & had been loosing in last few meetings.

The match began & in no time I was up 5-3 serving for the set. I was able to put in my serves & I was up 40-0, three set points, and then I do not know what happened, I double faulted twice & lost the game & set & the match from there.

Looking back at 40-0, I had a defensive mindset, I just wanted to put my serve in the box & wanted my opponent to make a mistake & gift me the set.

I have learnt from my mistake & now I try to end the points rather than wait for the opponent to gift me points.

Courage and fear
by: Tomaz

Hi Rohan and thanks for your story!

Yes, being afraid to go for your shots doesn't work.

Some people have to lose just a few times to realize that. Some have to lose hundreds of times. Some never realize that.

I am glad your found the courage and the right way to approach that crucial part of the match.

It's not only the right approach in tennis, it's also the right approach in life.
