Kick Serve by opponent.

by Ismawingadali
(Kuala Lumpur)

Really trouble when opponent used kick serve and delivered at my backhand. By the moment I tried to hit that ball, the ball has risen up.

Handling Kick Serves
by: Nick

On kick serves you have two options:

I. Take the ball well into the court before it kicks up past your strike zone.

II. Back up and take as it descends.

The main purpose of the high bounce is to get the ball out of your strike zone. Combine that with a slight break/curve and you have serve that's difficult to hit cleanly.

In your case I suggest you back up, accept the fact that you have been neutralized and play a neutralizing deep shot back.

If you get a good rhythm on the serve then you can hit your return with more pace or take it earlier.

Hope you have fun learning how to handle this serve.
