Losing when in the lead

by Stephanie
(Michigan)

It's so classic to lose a game while up 40-0 or 40-15, even losing a set when up 5-3.

What is this? You work so hard to get there, just to have a momentum shift.

How do you actually stay in the present, positive, and continue to battle without losing control?

You WILL lose the lead sometimes
by: Tomaz

Hi Stephanie,

I've answered the same question to Karine, who had troubles closing the game after 40:0.

My question to you is: do you accept losing a lead at any time as a "normal" part of tennis OR do you ALWAYS feel responsible for losing a lead?

Also, check my full article on the topic of losing a lead and Ken DeHart's answer in this post about controlling pressure in the match.
