Returning fast serves?

by Jesse
(Fair Oaks RanchTexas, Kendell)

I have an opponent that has a very fast serve and rushes the net.

What is the best defense because returning his serve is so tough?

I see the pros return amazing 140 mile serves, what's the secret?

Thanks,
Jesse

Vary where you stand to return serve. Don't let your ego prevent you from moving back if needed. For some of the big servers I face, I stand almost halfway to the fence! (One guy will then dink a serve in every once in awhile and force me to run up, so stay aware of that possibility.) Keep your weight on your toes so that you're ready to react quickly. Keep your eye on the server (and most particularly the ball) to try to anticipate its path as soon as possible. And don't try to do too much with a big serve--just block it back and use his power to fuel your return.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

fast serve/netrusher

Hi,

You got to keep the ball very low or very high.
Either way with topspin if you can. This makes it difficult for the net rusher to time it very well.

Good luck,
Walter
