Shall I start tennis at 16 years of age?

Well my story is not so important but I'd like to know your opinion. I'm 16 year old and I want to start tennis but I think I'm not that young to start it now.

I'm afraid that if I go there I will play with 10 year old children and feel embarrassed? Start it or not? I love tennis btw!

Start tennis at 16?
by: Anonymous

I started tennis when I was 37 ... it's a great sport and never too late to start! You can always find your level and also players who are better than you and players that you are better than. That's what keeps it fun. The first year I played my team went to Sectionals... That was 15 years ago and I was the weakest player on the team. In 2008 my senior team went to Nationals and I played both playoff matches, all 5 Sectional matches, and all 3 matches at Nationals.

Don't dwell on Negative Thinking
by: Julian

I'd suggest not to entertain thoughts about what negative things could happen.. This will only keep you from doing and enjoying something you love. Why should something negative happen anyway? Why couldn't something great happen instead? ;-)

Remember it's all up to you. Let's use a tennis match as an example... Would you prepare for it entertaining thoughts about the obstacles and problems you're going to have? Why starting playing should be treated any different? :-)

Let us know how it's going.

youre never too old to learn something new
by: Camilla

Hey you
I totally understand your question. I have had the same. im a 15 year old girl and hae played for 3 years.. I practice about 9 hours a week. i want to reach the top as Serena Williams, but sometimes i think that its impossible for me because im " too old" as some people say. But i hate th thought that "im too old and cant reach anything in the world"... so im often doubt about it.
But if you enjoy playing tennis i think you should play as much as you can. its a brilliant game.
Hugs.
