Subconscious Mind Training
A Review of the TennisMind Software

tennis mind software
I have recently had a chance to review subconscious mind training software for tennis players, TennisMind.

This software attempts to influence the subconscious mind, where 90% of the mind's power is housed.

It's the part responsible for our behaviors, habits and performances.

The software has been developed in cooperation with Mr. Norman Hallett of Subconscious Training and Dr. Robert Heller, a well-known sports psychologist from Boca Raton, Florida, USA.

It consists of two CD's – Mental Toughness and Mental Skills for Match Play.

Each CD includes 10 sessions lasting 7 or 8 minutes each, which are focused on a specific area of the mental game of tennis.

Here are some of the mental and emotional issues that you confront in tennis matches, issues that you react to mainly in your subconscious mind:
  • Self-talk and Peak Performance
  • Relaxation and Emotional Regulation
  • Coping with Choking
  • Managing Mistakes
  • Developing Confidence
  • Controlling Anger and Frustration
  • Maintaining Concentration and Focus
  • Overcoming Gamesmanship
  • Closing Out Matches
  • Coming Back from Behind
  • And more...

How it Works

subconscious mind
Every session begins with you watching a spinning graphic on the screen while a soft female voice guides you through a 3-minute relaxation.

After a minute you can close your eyes and focus only on the voice.

This preparation helps you relax from head to foot, so that your subconscious mind is much more open to suggestions from the software.

The suggestions or statements are given in the first person so that you immediately take them in as your thoughts. For, we normally think in the first person.

My Thoughts

I was very impressed by the information included on these CD's and the system of influencing your subconscious mind.

Here are just some of the statements that are given to you in various sessions:
  • Winning or losing doesn't change who I am as a person.
  • I focus on those things I have control over.
  • I focus mostly on those goals that are under my control. These are activities like running for every ball on every point.
  • I recall past success experiences on a tennis court and replay them in my mind over and over again to keep confident and optimistic.
  • I picture myself hitting returns with authority cross court. If I net an easy ball, I replay it in my mind's eye hitting it successfully.
  • I recognize when my mind wanders and quickly bring it back to the present moment.
  • I mentally rehearse playing successfully and see myself staying calm under pressure.
  • I thrive on the energy of important points during the match. It helps me play my best.
  • I am aware of the score, yet detach myself emotionally from its consequences.
  • I refuse to get down on myself if I make a mistake.
  • Whenever I am behind, I remember similar occasions when I've rallied.
  • I can choose how I will react to any event.
  • I reestablish my concentration just before the ball is put into play.
  • I look forward to the challenge of out-maneuvering my opponent during critical points.
  • I am supportive of my doubles partner letting her know I appreciate her efforts.
These 14 statements are just a small sample of the whole package.

As you can see, there are many ideas that you may have already found on this website. I share the views above and other ideas found in this subconscious mind training software.

Even if you would just read these statements in an article or an ebook, they would make a difference in your game and prove a very valuable source of information.

But if you decide to follow the program, by listening to the sessions for 8 minutes a few times a week, you have an opportunity to change the subconscious part of your mind automatically!

Imagine how well you would play if there were only positive and smart thoughts in your mind.

Highly recommended.
