The Intention To Play Well

by Rick Falls
(Dunnellon, Florida, USA)

I play a few times a week and I've noticed something that's provided some solid improvement.

My thinking on the way to play and during my games is focused on how well I intend to do today.

The other day I played with a guy who is famous for critiquing people on the court during the game (whether they want it or not) and by the time we finished he had complimented me several times (totally unheard of) and never once critiqued me.

I said to myself I will play really well and he will not have a reason for criticism.

I did just that and one of my shots was this amazing retrieval of a drop shot to the backhand court that I chased down from the baseline and swung backhanded over my shoulder behind me as I spun around to get back into position for the return shot.

There was no return shot due to the sheer amazement of our doubles opponents at the ball I smacked past their feet and between them.

Man I love this game !

Thanks for the tips !

It All Starts In The Mind
by: Tomaz

Yes, the mind - body connection is very strong and once you make up your mind that you'll play well, your body listens.

The key here is not to doubt that decision.

And one thing to learn from this is that we can also use the power of intention in other parts of life too.
